28-05-2010 - THE ONLY ALL NIGHT OUTDOOR FESTIVAL OF HOLLAND

Every year more and more festivals crop up, but none of them take place at night. Other festivals like Nightmare Outdoor started as a night festival but have been forced to switch to the daylight. How can it be that Ground Zero still offers you to chance to dance under the stars from sunset to sunrise?

Getting a license for a nighttime outdoor festival is virtually impossible in the Netherlands today. The fact that Ground Zero can do this is because of a long cooperation between UDC and the municipality Voorst of Bussloo. UDC, together with Multigroove organizer of Ground Zero, has been realsing dance events and festivals in Bussloo for sixteen years. These include four previous editions of Ground Zero, but also five succesfull editions of Impulz Outdoor. Before that UDC together with ID&T realized three editions of Mystery Land at Bussloo.

During every event UDC has tried to balance two things. Making the event itself as immersive as possible for the visitor while reducing the inconveniences to local residents as much as possible. From the placement of the speakers to the time when the crew builds up and tears down all the stages, these two factors are always measured.

Still, there were a lot of rumors earlier this year that Ground Zero was no longer welcome in Bussloo. Reason for this was an article in the Dutch newpaper De Stentor (http://www.destentor.nl/regio/apeldoorn/5816768/Ground-Zero-wankelt.ece ). After another festival at the same location did result in a lot of inconveniences for the local residents. Now both events could lose their license for Bussloo.

The municipality of Bussloo has officially told organizers UDC and Multigroove that Ground Zero Festival belongs on Bussloo. UDC has been working close with the municipality for 16 years organizing a long list of legendary dance events on the holy ground of Bussloo, all while keeping the nuisance for the people living close by to a minimum. So on 3 July 2010 Ground Zero Festival will take off like never before, starting at 21.00 hours at night till 07.00 hours the following morning.
