01-07-2010 - Interview Waxweazle

A festival like Ground Zero must maintain a balance so all visitors can keep going on all night. The Research Department presents you a true specialist in the person of DJ Waxweazle. His sultry sounds will make the tired muscles jump up again and put a smile on everyone’s face.

How did you respond when you found out you were asked to perform at Ground Zero?
I was very happy, because I have never performed at Ground Zero and it has become a big and well-known festival. It is therefore always an honor to be asked for these sort of parties. I am definitely looking forward to blow the speakers.

What can the people expect from your set?
Because I am booked as Waxweazle, I will be performing with an emphasis on party and ambiance. It will certainly be a mix of early hardcore & and happy hardcore. I always try to play surprising sets, so I expect some tracks which are not well-know and those which are.
The speed can vary from low to high in my sets, but I always look at how the crowd reacts and I will adjust accordingly. I never prepare my sets, it has to be one big party during my set.

The theme of this year is The 5th Epidemic. How can people survive this epidemic?
Eating healthy, drinking and consuming many vitamins… A part from that, beats me.

Are there any other artists you definitely want to check out at Ground Zero?
I always walk around the whole festival terrain. Checking out other colleagues and having visiting the other music styles present is what I mostly do. There is nothing like having a baco in your hand and enjoying a party during the summer.

What are your plans for the rest 2010?
2010 is a hectic year for me. I am very busy with a new Headbanger (another alias of mine) release, productions which are released on Megarave Records and many collaborations with Nagoyah e.g.
The first Headbanger has been received well in the meantime, so I am very happy about that. Furthermore, we are busy with new Headbanger merchandise. I have also got some remixes which will be released, for instance: DJ Gizmo – End of the Beginning (Headbanger rmx) and Bass Reaction – Technophobia (Headbanger rmx). In addition, I have a well filled agenda with performances and I am most recently been occupied again with radio and internet promotion. I have also, most recently, a Twitter account (@DJHeadbanger) and a Facebook account (Rob Fabrie) so people can reach me more easily.
I have also got plans to do something with Waxweazle in the form of remixes, but I cannot say anything specific on that.

DJ WAXWEAZLE will be performing at the RESEARCH DEPARTMENT.
