The chill area at the bonfire has grown into an essential part of the Ground Zero experience. The line-up of this year has been assembled by William Jordens, renowned amongst the harder crowd for his darkcore sets as DJ The Rapist. As DJ Starbanger Jordens will show the crowd a more relaxed side of his musical soul.

How did you respond when you found out you were asked to perform at Ground Zero?
For me this isn’t the first time but the fifth time I will be spinning at Ground Zero. I’ve been part of the entire ride so far and I have to say that it still feels like an honor to be a part of it. This year will be extra special since I have been asked to program the Carefree Zone in cooperation with UDC and Multigroove. So I can fill the entire night with my colleague DJ’s at Sexy Music DJ XO and DJ Pullstar, the live act Adult Force (together with MC Beer) and DJ Spider. This will most definitely become a ridiculously crazy party there at the bonfire.

What can the people expect from the sets at the Carefree Zone?
The live act Adult Force is a co-op between William Jordens a.k.a. DJ Starbanger and Bjorn van Houten a.k.a. MC Beer. I’m an old school electro lover (Pet Shop Boys, Koto, Bobby Orlando, Patrick Cowely, Giorgio Moroder) and MC Beer has always been down with the Dutch hip-hop scene. We’ve been friends for more than 10 years and decided to hook up musically and see what would happen. You can expect a transcending mix of ‘80s pop, ‘70s rock and ’60 soul loops. But also some original pieces without a single sample.
DJ Starbanger mostly spins a smooth blend of electro and trance from artists like Prydam Cirez D, Sander van Doorn, Eric Prydz (especially the remixes), Adam K & Soha etc.

The theme of this year is The 5th Epidemic. How can people survive this epidemic?
Simple. On 3 July put on your best party outfit. Make sure you’re at the Ground Zero terrain on time and “party like it’s 1999”! Are you tired or need to catch your breath, head on over to the Carefree Zone where your save from all the musical violence surrounding you.

Are there any other artists you definitely want to check out at Ground Zero?
To be honest I want to spend as much time with my friends and family at the festival just like last year. Ground Zero is an adventure where you have to swept up by your feelings and not by your conscious mind. I’m not going there for any specific artist but for a night filled with surprises, new insights and some unexpected twists.

What are your plans for the rest 2010?
Together with Adult Force we will be doing a small your through Austria in November. We were busy in the studio working on some new tracks.
DJ Starbanger is resident at Turn On from Sexy Music. Every second Saturday of the month we host our own club night Turn On in Club Op De Sluizen in IJmuiden. The week after Ground Zero on 10 July we’ll put the Carefree Zone a once over at our club-night there.
