21-06-2010 - Interview Petrochemical

Between the barren mountains in the coldest part of Norway, one of the most innovative acts in Darkcore of the last years emerged in 2004. Petrochemical is a collaboration between DJ Toxtoy a.k.a. Andrè Løver and Bioserver a.k.a. Espen Westum in which ToXtoy is responsible for the DJ’ing. He will be making the long trip to Area Bussloo to go completely insane on the Exiled Beach.

How did you respond when you found out you were asked to perform at Ground Zero?
Since Petrochemical still is a pretty new name within the scene, I (ToXtoy) was really surprised when ID Bookings called me telling me about this DJ gig. I also got a bit nervous since it's been such long time since my last gig. Both Bioserver and myself have been very busy with our everyday lives which meant it wasn’t possible to keep music as our top priority (unfortunately). One thing is for sure... It’s going to be kick ass to play down there again!

What can the people expect from your set?
Me being drunk wearing my white lenses. Other than that this will be my first DJ performance where I’ll play CD’s only (TOA copycat?) and I will of course play the new tracks from our upcoming record (yeah, I know we’ve been slow as hell). Here is a little sample just for you guys!

The theme of this year is The 5th Epidemic. How can people survive this epidemic?
I better bring my gas mask then! And here it's only survival of the fittest (and by fittest I mean the people who actually move on the dance-floor). To quote my own drunken and f****d up MC’ing at Q-base... “l WANT TO SEE YOU MOVE!”

Are there any other artists you definitely want to check out at Ground Zero?
Many of the artists are good friends of mine, so I really want to check them out during the party. But some of the people who I really want to check out is Cik, Miss Twilight, Dr. Macabre (memories from the good old days), Mental Wreckage and The Outside Agency (a.k.a uncle Frank & uncle Noel).

What are your plans for the rest 2010?
So far, my biggest plan is to get married in August. Other than that I really hope to be able to make some more music together with Bioserver (the other and most important part in Petrochemical). He became a father in the end of last year, so music production has been switched with diaper changes and long nights! But I promise you...we will not disappear! Until then... ET SMALAHOVE OG DREKK ØL!

PETROCHEMICAL will perform at the EXILED BEACH.
