22-06-2010 - Interview Martijn van Langen

Martijn van Langen already provided a refreshing dose of chill beats at the bonfire last year. This year he will once again take place behind the decks at dawn when the ambiance is at its best.

What were your first thoughts on the request to perform at Ground Zero Festival?
It was a surprise to me I was added to the line-up of this edition. When I was told I was surprised and I instantly was looking forward to set Bussloo on fire again! Last year was very special because my mother-in-law was very ill and was allowed by the organization to come and take a look and listen to my set, which was awesome!!

What can people expect from your performance at Ground Zero?
Being the closing act last year, I was allowed to play minimal-techno to something rougher, which was well appreciated by the audience. This year, I will be playing again with both vinyl and CD’s, we will go completely out of our minds!

The theme of this year is the 5th Epidemic. How can people best survive an epidemic?
It is best if they enjoy my music on their MP3 players. If you are f*cked, you had best listen to good music!

Are there other artists you don’t want to miss at Ground Zero?
The line-up is again varied and many of my heroes are playing in different areas. I am sure I will be visiting the different areas to get a taste of all music styles. DJ Champ-E-On is one of my favourite DJ’s and I really don’t want to miss his performance.

What have you planned for the rest of 2010?
I will be performing at Raveworld in Kardinge under my alias DJ Baba. I’m also busy producing, which is a next step for me.

MARTIJN VAN LANGEN will be performing in the CAREFREE ZONE.
